Black and White Portraits With Nicola

First of all, Don’t you think there is something completely unique about the naturalĀ portraiture photography that you get during a photoshoot? Portrait photography is one of my favoriteĀ genres of photography. The photoshoot that initially brought me these photographs was a lot different to these and take on a completely different atmosphere, however, these out-takes have become some of the favorites from the day. I have fallen absolutely in love with these images. There’s no actual concept to them but you can tell just how much fun we were having together and that’s really important when you’re working with a model. If you’re able to make your model feel comfortable then you’re going to get the best results, trust me.

Using the blonde wig that Nic was sporting oh-so-beautifully, helped frame her face beautifully and separate her features from the other objects within the photograph. The images themselves I feel are quite atmospheric. I love a photograph that can make you feel something and these images do just that.

All of the pictures below were taken with a shallow depth of field. In my opinion, helps create that atmospheric and more natural look within a photograph and is something I tend to reach for in all of my portraiture shoots.

What do you think of these images and which one is your favourite? Personally, Image 1 is my favourite. It’s quite a mysterious shot which is why it grabs my attention more than the others.
